The Joseph Knight Sr. Farm and the Josiah Stowell Home are not official Church history sites maintained by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are privately preserved and operated by dedicated volunteers through Colesville Restoration, Inc. We receive no tithing funds or institutional support.
Admission during the season is free and always will be. We believe everyone should be able to visit these sacred sites and feel the spirit of the Restoration without cost. But maintaining two historic homes, keeping the grounds, paying utilities, and coordinating docents all require resources.
Your generous donation — of any amount — helps us keep the doors open, the lights on, and the story of the Knight family and the first branch of the Church alive for future generations.
We can often arrange tours during the off-season (November through April). If you’re visiting the area during those months, please contact us or call 607-321-3897 and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Since these tours fall outside our normal operating schedule, we typically ask for a $50 donation to cover the cost of opening the homes.
If you run tours of Church history sites in New York, we’d love to work with you. The Knight Farm and Stowell Home are a natural addition to any itinerary that includes Palmyra, the Peter Whitmer Farm in Fayette, or the Priesthood Restoration Site in Harmony. The homes are open during the season and we can accommodate groups of all sizes.
